Purple Dresses Galore

Grandma Mary donated some purple satin to the cause of dress making.
Here are the different ways Elizabeth made dresses using it.I (Olivia) drew the dresses on paper.
Elizabeth says, "Emma is wearing the purple dress with a white and blue fabric and Emma loves it. The other dolls are jealous."
"Stella (formerly Aurora) is wearing a lacy purple evening gown. She is wearing it because I (Elizabeth) made it too small for the other dolls."
"Georgia is wearing the dress with fuzzy peach sweater fabric and ribbon straps."
Stella is wearing a cape that can do three things
1. Regular cape.

  2. hair / neck attachment .
3. Hair drape .
Elizabeth started sewing on Grandma Mary's beginner sewing machine.
Bodice is made from fleece, skirt from swimsuit material, with a ribbon flower to accessorize.
Olivia and Elizabeth learned how to do some cross-stitching during Spring Break. Olivia is making a rose and Elizabeth is making Pepe Le Pew.
What should we do next? Please comment.

New Year New Design Ideas

Elizabeth has been working on some new formal wear for this doll.
She even made a little flower to go on the dress.  Now for making the neckline just a tad higher. ;)
 A fresh tutu.
Elizabeth has been making many bags to hold supplies and new clothes.  Who wouldn't want a satin bag with ribbon handles?  So silky and functional.
Elizabeth got a sewing machine for Christmas, but it was too little for her and it didn't work right, so Elizabeth is borrowing a beginner sewing machine from Grandma Mary to get her started.  Elizabeth really likes sewing by hand though!

Sewing Club

I guess Elizabeth and Olivia have started a sewing club.  Olivia invited some friends over to sew with Elizabeth and her after school on Wednesday (good thing their moms called to check about it!) and Olivia's been having her friends draw designs of dresses.  I'm not sure if she's making them audition to be in the club or what, but they are finally being crafty again and enjoying sewing.
Monday after school Elizabeth was sewing a cape for this doll.  Olivia took some pictures. From the back.
From the front and with the creator of the cape.  (The doll had to be undressed to make sure the cape fit apparently.)
Elizabeth working on the lace at the bottom of the dress.
Such fine handwork for a nine year old, wouldn't you say?
The two newest members of the sewing club.  Today they made doll tutus.
They posed together before the friends went home.
I love having creative kids.  They are so much fun (see above picture...)  They are sharing their passion with their friends and are not timid or shy about sharing what they think and feel; however, I would very much appreciate some asking before inviting people to our home....
