Sewing Club

I guess Elizabeth and Olivia have started a sewing club.  Olivia invited some friends over to sew with Elizabeth and her after school on Wednesday (good thing their moms called to check about it!) and Olivia's been having her friends draw designs of dresses.  I'm not sure if she's making them audition to be in the club or what, but they are finally being crafty again and enjoying sewing.
Monday after school Elizabeth was sewing a cape for this doll.  Olivia took some pictures. From the back.
From the front and with the creator of the cape.  (The doll had to be undressed to make sure the cape fit apparently.)
Elizabeth working on the lace at the bottom of the dress.
Such fine handwork for a nine year old, wouldn't you say?
The two newest members of the sewing club.  Today they made doll tutus.
They posed together before the friends went home.
I love having creative kids.  They are so much fun (see above picture...)  They are sharing their passion with their friends and are not timid or shy about sharing what they think and feel; however, I would very much appreciate some asking before inviting people to our home....

Ariel Dress Delivered

Elizabeth's cousin likes Ariel's new dress that Elizabeth made for her!
 Isn't it pretty?
I hope she continues to enjoy it and that it holds up. =)

Ariel Dress

An order was placed for an Ariel dress for Elizabeth's cousin.
She used mostly blue, pink, and purple to create this dress.
Here is the top part, complete with sleeves and hand-stitched ribbon.
Elizabeth carefully stitching the bottom of the dress onto the top with some rick rack in between.
Ariel's new little dress.  Aurora tried it on for her to make sure it fits.  Elizabeth is still working on some buttons in the back of the dress.  She thanked me for having so many supplies for her to use.
A little closer to see some of the stitching.
What do you think?  If you'd like a specialty made dress hand sewn by Elizabeth (with accessories by Olivia), leave a comment with your request.

Aurora Blue Dress and Accessories

Elizabeth (9) and Olivia (almost 7) wanted to make a fancy dress for their large Aurora doll using some sparkly blue fabric I (their mom) bought in the remnant section awhile ago.
Here's how they did it.  They drew pictures of what they wanted it to look like before beginning.  Elizabeth hand stitched some lace on the slip.

Olivia was mad at me for taking a picture of Aurora undressed. Olivia made a necklace and bracelet for her.
Elizabeth stitching the ribbon and lace on the bodice.
So far Aurora.  They are still going to add sleeves and some buttons in the back and hem the dress up.
This is the cape Olivia made for her.  They decided that the other large doll we have this size can hold the cape like a train for her.
Not finished yet: the hat and the purse that will accompany this outfit.
If you'd like to order your very own doll dress (or a dress up dress for a child), comment here with your email.  Prices will vary depending on the size of dress and the type of accessories desired.
